Cursor
Use AZRouter models in Cursor through the OpenAI base URL override.
Tested: Equivalent request only (streaming Chat Completions with a tool, as Cursor sends), 2026-10-16. The Cursor app was not opened.
Cursor calls AZRouter through its OpenAI API key setting with a custom base URL.
Set it up
- Open Cursor Settings → Models.
- Under API Keys, paste your AZRouter key into OpenAI API Key.
- Turn on Override OpenAI Base URL and enter
https://api.azrouter.dev/v1. - Add a custom model with the exact AZRouter slug, for example
qwen/qwen3.8-flash, and select it in chat.
Cursor sends these requests from its own servers, not from your machine, so the base URL has to be reachable from the internet. api.azrouter.dev is.
Check the endpoint Cursor calls
Cursor's chat sends streaming Chat Completions requests with tools. This request does the same from a terminal:
curl -N https://api.azrouter.dev/v1/chat/completions \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $AZROUTER_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"model": "qwen/qwen3.8-flash",
"stream": true,
"max_tokens": 300,
"messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Read the file README.md"}],
"tools": [{
"type": "function",
"function": {
"name": "read_file",
"description": "Read a file from the workspace",
"parameters": {"type": "object", "properties": {"path": {"type": "string"}}, "required": ["path"]}
}
}]
}'The stream should end with a tool_calls delta for read_file and data: [DONE]. If it does, Cursor's requests will work with the same key, base URL and model.
